There are so many wonderful lines in this play that have made it into our everyday speech…eg. “to thine ownself be true”. I find it to be a philosophical play and it examines many aspects of being human.

Shakespeare was and is the roots of modern novels and movies! I read Hamlet in 12th grade, and my teacher was wonderful. I actually enjoyed it and really look for foreshadowing, symbolism, and all sorts of things I usually was unaware of. I myself am writing a book, and had it half done when I read Hamlet, and realized how I myself have been foreshadowing. Hamlet also is a good character study, and helps you understand parts of yourself and others. We all end up food for worms anyway!
